So for the past week I have been doing the best that I can do update an online food diary called FitDay.com. It became apparent that after the first day, it was going to be very time consuming at first. It is still time-consuming and I have almost given up. Almost.
This past week I have spent more time putting in data than I have making food! It is kind of ridiculous. However, it has definitely made me more aware of what I am putting in my body and I know that when my energy is down, it is because I haven’t had enough calories or I need to eat more veggies or protein. Only two days this week did I have enough protein. I’m going to work on this issue this week by doing some meal planning and making some big batches of soup and chilli to warm up when I’m in a bind.
In terms of tracking food, what I have decided to try for the next week is to keep track of what I eat and how often I exercise on paper and then put it into the online journal. After a little while, I should be able to mostly just choose the foods that I often have and it will take a lot less time, making it more valuable to help keep track of my nutrient intake.
This week was a bit off-and-on in terms of exercise, but I am back on the “wagon” with doing some training. Yesterday I went with my very speedy friend for a run and she inspired (ie. pushed and goaded) me into going faster. We did 8km in about 45 minutes, which is pretty good for me and my slowness. It gives me hope for my own body. Today I’m going to get on my trainer and put in some time.
