Stay Positive, Get Faster

It’s been a while since I’ve posted. I was down and out with a brutal cold for three weeks of hacking, snotting, and complete exhaustion. I’m not going to lie, it was difficult to recover from that. As each day passed, I felt like my fitness was going down down down. I tried to keep a positive mind and know that I would get it back once I was completely healed.

Last week was my first full week back into training. The week before I did some shorter rides, super short runs, and super short swims. Last week I did a bit more. Running is where I feel like I have had the most set-back in. Before I got sick, I felt so good running. Now after I run, my feet hurt, my hamstrings hurt, my IT bands and hip flexors hurt, and even my back hurts. I’ll get them back for sure, but it’s hard to go from feeling awesome to feeling like crap so quickly.

I know that with training there will always be set-backs and it’s a matter of working through them to get stronger, healthier, and better/faster. It’s this initial period of disappointment that I have a difficult time with. Keeping a positive outlook helps a lot!
