Guilty as Charged

I have a confession… I have been a very bad vegan. My meals for the past month (on and off) have been based on the speed that they are made as opposed to their nutrition. This has had an effect on my training because when I don’t eat properly, my legs get very tired very quickly. So this is me committing to myself and the world that I will start to eat healthier meals starting NOW. No more pieces of toast with peanut butter for breakfast and lunch, cereal with soy milk for supper, soy ice cream after supper, and … Keep reading

Simplicity

Sometimes life can see so complicated – work, relationships, nutrition, and training. Then there’s housework, bike maintenance, massages, chiropractor, movies, music, volunteering, and life stuff that just pops up. Right now it all seems so simple to me. Almost 4 years ago I had a stress fracture in my right foot that put me on the running sidelines for … Keep reading

Just because I’m vegan, doesn’t mean I can’t be picky!

Race nutrition has always been something that I struggle with. Sports drinks, gels, and protein bars are expensive, taste kind of awful, and are hard on the stomach. However, I’ve slowly found ways to shave down cost and stomach both the taste and the high calories! First of all, I eat mostly Clif bars in bulk. I either get my local health food store to order me a whole box of them or I buy them at sketchy Costco. The bulk ones from Costco come in assorted flavours, but I have become quite tired of the Peanut Butter, Chocolate Almond, … Keep reading
