An Easy Week

Last week somehow turned into a rest week. I guess it makes sense after the week before’s pummeling of my body. On Sunday after the swim it kind of shut down. I could feel myself lagging in the water. I felt ill. Somehow I made it through the swim and spent the rest of the day on the couch. Actually, I spent Monday there too (other than going to work). As my training is peaking, I am acutely aware of my recovery time. Actually, I’m more aware of my legs being tired and feeling like they are not recovering. I only have two weeks left of heavy training before I *start* to taper a bit. However, I’ve had some emotional ups and downs over the past few days that I’m trying to even out. Hopefully everything starts to work together. Even though I am unemployed and training every day, I feel like I don’t have enough time to do everything that I want to do. Triathletes Don’t Party… and there’s a reason for that

Last weekend I discovered why triathletes don’t party – it’s because you need too much time to recover. After a really fun Hallowe’en night, I spent most of Saturday devoid of energy and unmotivated. I did end up swimming on Sunday, but I ran out of time for my long bike ride. Isn’t it interesting that the workout that gets skipped the most is the one that you don’t want to do? Rest and Inspiration!

I can’t believe it’s been over a week since my last update! There are a number of reasons for this: a 4-day weekend with no real training, the heat may have gone to my head, and the Tour de France is so controversial that I can hardly concentrate on anything at all!
